Roudaba and Bryony in UzTEA

UzTEA Samarkand branch

On April, 14, 2009 Roudaba Shuja (Pakistan), Bryony Rayhan (Bangladesh) and Svetlana Khan (Uzbekistan), participants of ETTE Regional meeting, visited UzTEA Samarkand branch to learn more about the work of this organization from UzTEA members.

Despite the rainy weather, the atmosphere in the UzTEA office was, as usual, sunny and friendly. Firuza Rakhmanova (who, together with her sister Shahlo, conducts WWW (What? Where? When?) project), Arevhat Simonyants, Gozzal Utemuratova and Yulduz Usmanova (active UzTEA members and constant participants of UzTEA seminars and projects), Victoria Demidova (the head of Samarkand branch and the person responsible for conducting Reading Club sessions) answered numerous guests’ questions about UzTEA Samarkand branch and its activity. Svetlana Khan, the executive director of UzTEA National branch, added some words about the activity of UzTEA branches in other regions of Uzbekistan.

The guests were impressed by enthusiastic work of UzTEA Samarkand branch while talking to its members and looking through albums of different projects and seminars held by Samarkand branch.

The meeting was mutually beneficial, because Pakistan and Bangladesh have their own professional organizations of teachers. SPELT (), BELTA (Bangladesh national EL teachers association) and GELTA (Bangladesh regional EL teachers association) have rich experience in assisting local EL teachers in their professional development.

Not only the interesting conversation, but smiles, laughter and hot tea (which is a significant part of UzTEA!) with chocolate made the meeting productive on that cold spring day.
