GLOBAL PRODUCT seminar
25 – 28 March, 2009
During spring holidays EL teachers of Samarkand were invited to participate in a methodological seminar based on Global Product Classroom Language course designed by the British Council. The course is based on communicative language teaching and learner-centredness as the main principles of modern methodology. Instructors Khakima Zubaidullaeva, Sayyora Kurbanova, Farangiz Shokirova, Gozzal Utemuratova and Victoria Demidova conducted the following Global Product sessions:
Giving instructions
Using L1 in the English Classroom
Asking questions and eliciting
Presenting new language
Participants worked in pairs and in groups, discussed methodological issues and played games, reflected on their experience and shares their ideas with other colleagues. At the end of the seminar all of them were presented with practical teaching materials designed by the British Council. Both participants and instructors express their gratitude to the British Council, Uzbekistan, for valuable help in organization and implementation of the seminar.

Speaking about the whole seminar I liked it a lot because it gave me a number of helpful techniques. The seminar has been very interesting and full of different kinds of activities. We experienced various games which teachers can use in class. There was information about learning styles and discussions during the seminar. I liked the seminar very much and certainly I’ve got a lot of ideas to use with my students. |
